THE TASK IS NOT SO MUCH TO SEE WHAT NO ONE HAS YET SEEN, BUT TO THINK WHAT NOBODY HAS YET THOUGHT, ABOUT THAT WHICH EVERYBODY SEES.

Research and Papers

My Master thesis in which I analyzed and applied an often ignored organization theory from social sciences. The theory explains how organizations construct structure-determined perceptions of reality and future. Foresight can help making organizations aware of their structure-determindness and overcoming it.

A seminar paper about innovation labs and specifically about how Google with its X lab is able to develop extraordinary disruptive ideas outside its core business and the lessons other large corporations can learn from that.

A paper about the entrenchment of techno-utopianist philosophies in Silicon Valley. Its origins, status quo and most importantly its negative and positive implications for entrepreneurialism.

About Me

Hi! I'm Thomas, a futurist based in Berlin, seeking to help individuals and organizations create a better future

I have lived and worked on 4 different continents: As a free-time volunteer and manager of a soup kitchen for the homeless in Chicago, USA; as a German teacher and development aid worker in Jakarta, Indonesia; and as a foresight, trend and innovation consultant in Cologne and Berlin, Germany, as well as in Cape Town, South Africa

I am mostly interested in understanding how different perspectives determine how we see (or imagine) the future and how a change in perspective can foster innovation and encourage new ideas.
